Cast resin Transformer VS VPI transformer


Cast Resin Transformers have at least one of the two windings embedded on an autoclave mould, at vacuum values close to zero with epoxy resin. The  winding can also be cast in epoxy resin or impregnated with H class polyester resin with high cementation.

Cast Resin Transformers have reached a high degree of reliability thanks to the technological advances in recent years. Our production E2, C2, F1,  can be used in the presence of a high humidity and pollution rate, low installation temperatures even down to -60°C, therefore eliminating the problems related to the risks of fire and emissions of toxic and harmful substances in case of fire.

As they are entirely built with insulating, flame retardant and self-extinguishing materials, they are completely free from all restrictions that should normally be applied to flammable equipment with a danger of spreading fire.

Vacuum pressure impregnated VPI dry type transformer has an iron core, vacuum pressure resin impregnated high voltage windings and low voltage windings. The low voltage winding is constructed with conductors. Dupond nomex insulating material includes an apparatus to secure the windings in place during a vacuum and pressure resin impregnation process. VPI transformers are used in moisture prone areas.

The primary and secondary windings are impregnated with Class H polyester resin which can withstand hot spot temperature rise upto 180 ℃ and maximum winding temperature up to 220℃. The coil exhibits high short circuit protection due to the tightly bond conductors comparable to completely resin encased moulded transformers at a substantially reduced cost.

VPI transformers are used in many varied applications such as industrial, renewables, railways, marine, distribution and power generation.
